Luxembourg and Bastogne

1 Jun 2014

We need a 3 Hrs drive to arrive in Luxemburg, the capital of the Grand Duchy.

Our guide takes you to the many historic sites of the city, both in the upper and lower part of the city. The picturesque historical town,  the cathedral, the palace of the Grand Duke and the Place des Armes. During our walk towards to the lower part of the city you will have an excellent vieuw on some buildings of the EU on the plateau of Kirchberg. Once in the valley you will admire the important fortifications and kazemates, the historic abbey of Neumünster, the Wenceslaswall and the beautiful setting on the Alzette river.   Before leaving, you have free time in the city center.

Through the green hills of the Belgian Ardennes we drive to Bastogne. During Christmas 1944 the town was the site of the worst battle between the allied (American) and German forces. We visit the Mardasson-memorial. After a stop at the Place Mac Auliffe, we return to Brussels.
