Panorama of the Battle

This circular canvas measuring 110m x 12m is one of the largest in the world. It was erected in 1912 by Louis Dumoulin, the French Marine painter.
It is an artistic representation of the foreground of the Battlefield presented on a circular canvas. This painting retraces an emotive episode during the battle on 18th June 1815, which took place at around five o’clock; one of the cavalry charges consisting of the 3rd Kellerman Corps (with the exception of the carabineers), the surviving members of the 4th Corps (Milhaud), the Light Cavalry Division (Lefèbvre-Desnoëttes) and the Heavy Cavalry Division (Guyot) of the Imperial Guard.
